Li Jing Teaches His Son

Summary of Episode 1 of Li Jing Teaches His Son

On a night in Chentang Pass, Li Jing rigorously trains Nezha in spear techniques and scolds him for his reckless act of stirring up trouble in the Dragon Palace to protect the fishermen. His wife, Madam Yin, tries to mediate and reveals that Li Jing is afraid Nezha will repeat someone else’s mistakes. In secret, Li Jing gives his wife the Exquisite Pagoda bestowed on him by the Daoist Ran Deng, so it can calm Nezha’s mind if needed. The next day, Nezha practices diligently and admits his mistake. Later, a messenger from the East Sea Dragon Palace arrives with a Water-Repelling Pearl as an apology, saying the Yaksha was at fault first. Just then, soldiers report that someone from the Dragon Palace has arrived. Nezha offers to share the responsibility and gradually begins to understand the hopes behind his father’s strictness.
