Deep in the Night, by Your Side

I always hear crying from inside my bedroom wall at three in the morning.

After ten years of marriage, my husband claimed I was having a psychotic episode and had me forcibly committed to a sanatorium.

Then renovation workers smashed through the wall and uncovered the fresh corpse of a woman sealed inside the concrete.

On her wrist was a couple's bracelet identical to mine.

My husband stood expressionless behind the crowd, placing a call. "The plan has changed. She can't be allowed to leave the hospital alive."
