Outside the windows of the Star Rail, time could be torn to pieces.
Shi Yan, a "wanderer" cursed by time, feels the gear-shaped mark on his left wrist grow hot whenever a timeline somewhere in the universe begins to collapse. He was once a fixer for the "Time Administration," but a catastrophe led him to destroy with his own hands the planet he had sworn to protect. All that remained was a stopped pocket watch, which implanted in him the power to control time, along with unending regret.
Every night aboard the train, he sees the ashes of the past glimmering in the stars and hears fragments of the future shattering amid the sound of gears. When the pocket watch emits a warning glow on the planet Charon III, the twisted mountains, backward footprints, and mysterious figure who resembles him all point to the same truth: the "time storm" years ago was no accident, and the past he has forgotten conceals a conspiracy capable of overturning the order of time across the universe.
The emblem of the "Time Administration" flickers into view on the inside of the pocket watch. The memories that were erased, the timelines that were altered, and the truth behind the disaster that was concealed are now surfacing one by one along the train's route. Shi Yan must grip the energy whip forged from fragments of time and expose the hand meddling with the flow of time before time catches up with him. This time, what he must correct is not a timeline, but the very "rules" capable of destroying every planet.
The train's destination is an abyss of the past, but also the only path to a future. One day, the hands of his pocket watch must turn again, at the cost of blood and gears.
