The Reverse Pilgrimage Squad: Buddha Sent Me to Fetch the True Scriptures

Ji Gong descends from Mount Ling with a fan in hand, Fahai wields his Buddhist staff with a stern expression, Letian smiles as he holds the Truth-Hearing Beast, and Red Boy carries his spear, already impatient. The Buddha sends four people and a beast east to seek The Flourishing Age's Splendor. Setting out from Tianzhu, they cross the deserts of the Western Regions and follow the Silk Road toward Chang'an.

They see temples gleaming with gold, while the common people suffer in poverty, demonic energy gathers, and faith becomes a shackle.

From then on, they no longer look at temples and see only incense offerings. They see the warmth and coldness of human hearts, and the pulse of the world.

Others rely on divine powers to subdue demons; they get to the root of the problem through understanding. Others cultivate Buddhism to leave the world behind; they enter the world to seek the Way.

As they journey east, they will finally reveal the truth: the true scriptures aren't on Mount Ling, but among the lamplights of countless homes and the laughter of the bustling streets.
