The Substitute Bride Princess: The Prince Has No Code of Conduct

[Laugh-Out-Loud Shenanigans] The Substitute Bride Princess Only Wants to Keep Her Head Down, but Runs Into the Ultimate Model of Male Virtue?!

So, Your Highness, is your chaste persona a family tradition?

Overnight, I went from being a nobody who saved lives with medicine (or wielded a spatula) to the substitute bride of a bloodthirsty, crippled prince. They say Prince Chen, Xiao Jing, is a battlefield demon who has killed countless people, is crippled in both legs, and has a violent temper. In short, he could silence a crying child, and he's the natural enemy of a slacker like me.

In the bridal sedan, I dabbed at my eyes (not really) and clutched an armful of deadly poisons and powerful anesthetic snacks. My life goal had been reduced to one thing: keep my head down and stay alive!

But on our wedding night, where was the promised bloodthirsty, violent man? Why was this handsome guy in a wheelchair so righteous as he said, "Princess, rest assured. I, Xiao, abide by the rules of male virtue and will never overstep." Then... he dutifully went to sleep on the couch? Me: ???

From then on, my worldview was repeatedly ground into the dirt:

-> After exchanging three sentences too many with a female official, the prince faced the wall in repentance, copied The Admonitions for Men ten times, and gave me a hand-embroidered, rather crooked handkerchief as an apology.

-> He sternly refused to let women get close, explaining, "This is the foundation of male virtue. It keeps my princess at peace and prevents me from being tempted."

-> His greatest hobbies were embroidering flowers for me, making soup, studying The Admonitions for Men (which he wrote himself!), and regularly wondering aloud, "Was I too close to any female creature besides my princess today, including the mother cat?"

I wanted to keep a low profile and stay alive, but I couldn't hide my skills in medicine (and cooking). Before I knew it, I had cured his chronic ailment (and won his heart through his stomach); before I knew it
