The Hive Descends on Naruto

The Beginning: A “meteorite” (actually the Overmind’s initial nest or spore pod) crashes in a remote area of the Hokage world, such as the Valley of the Hidden Mist or near the Land of Waves.

Early Signs:

Ecological Changes: The plants and animals nearby begin undergoing bizarre mutations and become aggressive. Plants wither, and the land is covered by a purple carpet of fungus.

Disappearances: Villagers from nearby settlements and wild animals begin vanishing sporadically.

Ninja Investigation: A ninja village, usually Konoha, receives a mission to investigate and sends a team of genin or chunin. The team encounters primitive, immature Zerg units, such as Zerglings and Hydralisks. They win at a heavy cost, or one member is infected and escapes back, bringing the first warning.

Reactions from All Sides: The major ninja villages treat it as a localized oddity and do not take it seriously enough. Only a few perceptive scientists, such as Orochimaru, take a keen interest in these “perfect biological weapons.”
