The Heavenly Court's Madcap Rally

When an energy crisis in the Heavenly Court causes the gods to lose their powers and immortality, the least remarkable trainee celestial must lead a band of hapless "teammates" in the most unreliable mission to save the world ever attempted, all to rekindle the light called "belief."

The Supreme Lord Lao secretly entrusts him with an important mission: descend to the mortal realm and uncover the truth! Assigned to keep an eye on him is the "mishap-prone intelligence team" sent by the law enforcer Yang Jian: Clairvoyant and Clairaudient, one nearsighted and the other hard of hearing. In the modern human world, Xiao Qi finds everything both fascinating and alien, while his remaining magical powers cause one comedy of errors after another. The Thunder God spends ages trying to summon thunder, only to produce a tiny spark that singes his own beard. The Lightning Goddess tries to fix things, but only makes the Thunder God's hair crackle with static. The couple immediately start blaming each other. Nezha, an internet-addicted teen, rides his Wind-and-Fire Wheels, which keep speeding up and slowing down, and curses at his jade talisman about the game lagging, only to crash into a pillar. The Pagoda-Bearing Heavenly King Li's pagoda shrinks into a snuff bottle, and he awkwardly searches for it on the ground. The Heavenly River Navy loses control of its formation, and the waves crash into the Dragon King's own viewing platform.

[Sun Wukong's review] Retired Sun Wukong watches the chaotic celebration, bites into a peach, and quips, "Tsk, tsk, this is even livelier than the havoc I wreaked in the Heavenly Palace back in my day. Too bad their skills are so lousy."
