The day Huang Quan was born, strange signs appeared in the heavens, and every ghost wailed.
Born with a ghostly face, he caused his birth mother’s death. The villagers deemed him ill-omened and forced his father to set him adrift in a wooden basin on the legendary Yellow Springs River, leaving him to live or die on his own.
But he did not die.
The Yellow Springs River was actually a dark passage leading straight to the shattered Underworld!
At that time, the King of Hell had vanished, reincarnation had collapsed, and wandering spirits and wild ghosts plagued the mortal world, while powerful Ghost Kings carved out territories of their own.
In this desperate place, Huang Quan awakened and learned that he had been born with the destiny of a Netherworld Sovereign, blessed by the fortune of Heaven and Earth!
Starting out as an abandoned infant at the very bottom of the netherworld, he devours evil ghosts, subdues demons and monsters, and explores ancient ruins.
With the Judge’s Brush in hand, he inscribes life and death; bearing the seed of reincarnation, he restores order!
The supreme scriptures of Buddhism and Daoism become the foundation on which he rebuilds the laws of the world.
Yet one crisis follows another.
The Forgotten Spirits of the River of Forgetfulness revolt, the mysterious Blackflame Holy Church spreads its influence, and invaders arrive from the Frozen Hell…
This chaotic netherworld is far more unfathomable than he ever imagined.
Watch as the abandoned infant Huang Quan ventures forth amid the howls of countless ghosts, restores order to Heaven and Earth, rebuilds the Six Paths of Reincarnation, and claims the supreme throne of the Netherworld Sovereign!
