A Workplace Comeback Legend

In the cubicles of an office tower, Lin Zhou was just like countless other young people: staying up late over a proposal no one appreciated, feeling crushed when someone else took credit for his work, and struggling to make sense of the workplace's complicated rules. But he had one quality others lacked: stubborn persistence. He handled tedious tasks that others phoned in with painstaking care, and tackled difficult problems everyone else avoided.

That stubbornness took him from an entry-level position to department head. But when he saw the industry's biggest problems, he boldly gave up his high salary, took his savings and the colleagues who trusted him, and plunged into the turbulent world of entrepreneurship. When he couldn't afford a decent office, he painted the walls himself. When he couldn't keep old clients, he visited them again and again to speak with them sincerely. When the industry shut him out, he moved elsewhere and started from scratch.

Over eight years, his team grew from three people to a company of five hundred, and he went from a 100-square-meter mezzanine office to ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Lin Zhou's journey reflects the lives of ordinary workers everywhere: he made compromises and struggled, but never abandoned his ideals. This is no far-fetched legend. It's proof that an ordinary person's persistence can light up a sky of their own.
