Selling Arms in Bright Sword, Dealing with Scumbags in Real Life

Li Goudan is a low-level corporate drone crushed by the blessings of the 996 work schedule and mortgage and car payments. His life motto is “Keep your head down and don’t make waves.” Then a “Cross-Time Merit and Charity” System suddenly drops into his lap, changing everything!

Transmigrate to a parallel Blue Star during the War of Resistance Against Japan? Fight the Japanese? No, no, no. The System’s mission is to handle logistics only. Taking part in combat is forbidden! Safety first: deliver the goods and run!

Exchange merit points? Wholesale 98Ks! Italian cannons in unlimited supply! Wait, once I save up enough, I can even get the design for “Little Boy”? Brothers from the Eighth Route Army, stop looking at me like I’m some kind of immortal!

Back in the real world, captured Japanese command sabers and silver dollars can all be sold for cash! But the System insists that half the proceeds must go to charity, or I’ll get electric shock therapy! Help an old lady cross the street? One karma point! Expose an unscrupulous company? Punish a tyrannical village chief? The System provides a full packet of evidence and sends all the scumbags off to sing “Tears Behind Bars” together!

And so Li Goudan begins an extreme double life: in the parallel world, he’s a mysterious arms-dealing philanthropist known to the commanders as “the mysterious envoy from the East”; in the real world, he’s a hidden judge who takes down anyone who thinks they’re above the law, worshipped by netizens as the “Justice from Heaven Guy.”

Li Yunlong: “Brother, you got any flying iron birds (airplanes) left? I’ll trade you a Japanese lieutenant general’s command saber for one!”

Netizens in the real world: “Justice Guy’s done it again! That crooked boss who withheld migrant workers’ wages has turned himself in!”

Li Goudan: “Quit making a racket, I’m busy! I’ve got to deliver rocket launchers to the brigade commander and wire money to a Hope Primary School. How did a corporate drone like me end up as the busiest transmigrator ever?!”
