The Thirteen Needles of Taiji

Six needles for yin, six needles for yang, and one more to outdo the King of Hell! Su Yan was born into a wealthy and influential family. Because his father devoted himself to studying medicine and refused to play politics, the family’s two other branches couldn’t tolerate them. They joined forces to kick his branch out of the family so they wouldn’t have to share the family’s wealth. Su Yan’s birth name was Su Chengyan, but they stripped him of the character Cheng, erased him from the family genealogy, and severed all ties with the Su family. His father died of grief. Su Yan had always been a young man who liked a quiet life. Out of filial devotion, he studied his family’s ancestral “Thirteen Tai Chi Needles” with his father. This medical text, which combined medicine and martial arts, also inspired his love of medicine. He earned excellent grades and was accepted into the Dragon Kingdom University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Happily preparing to take his mother with him to study, find a job, and settle down with her for a peaceful life, he never expected that the arrival of a group of people would completely change everything.
