Notes from the Old Building: My Superpower Is Kind of Useless

Lin Xiaoman, a second-year high school student, is the “invisible girl” at the back of the classroom. Then one day, at an old desk in an abandoned school building, she discovers that little blue words can appear in her diary, “spoiling” ways to solve her minor problems. They help her dodge surprise quizzes from teachers and borrow art supplies from a club, but come with bizarre side effects: craving a discontinued ice pop and compulsively spinning a pen between her fingers. Teaming up with Jiang Che, a transfer student who can “understand the voices of old objects,” she investigates the source of their powers and the secrets of Su Xiao, a senior student from twenty years ago. As she learns both to rely on her abilities and to break free of them, she grows from timid and insecure into someone independent: joining the manga club through her own efforts, speaking up to save the old school building, and finally bidding her powers a gentle farewell before the college entrance exams. She comes to understand that growing up never depends on “spoilers,” but on having the courage to face every ordinary yet steadfast moment.
