Prisoner of Emotion

In Prism City in 2242, emotions have long since become commodities to be bought and sold. People lose themselves in canned happiness known as “Emotional Essence,” forgetting the saltiness of tears and the realness of a heartbeat.

Ling Xiu was once the city’s top “emotional tuner,” but a fatal accident sent him crashing from the heights of fame. Now he hides in the chaotic Underdepths, running an antique shop that repairs old things and cutting all ties with his past. Like a lone wolf licking its wounds, he builds a wall with coldness and sharp words, refusing to touch anyone else’s emotional world.

But an invisible plague known as “Silence” begins to spread, stripping people of every emotion and turning vibrant souls into cold husks. When Su Wan, an elite officer from the upper Skyvault District, comes knocking at Ling Xiu’s door with her younger brother, who is on the verge of succumbing to Silence, his sealed-away past becomes forcibly bound to the city’s apocalyptic future.

One is a genius imprisoned by the past; the other is an elite willing to risk everything for family. In this cyber-city, radiant with light yet bitterly cold, they must venture into the deepest reaches of emotion and memory to fight an unseen enemy. But they are about to discover that Silence is no plague: it is a carefully orchestrated conspiracy. And the only cure for the city may be the very thing they long ago cast aside: the truest, most painful, and most burning thing of all, the human heart.
