The Immortal Age: A Chinese Anthem

[A tribute to five thousand years of Chinese history and the countless heroes of this splendid civilization]

Zhang Yan, a modern armed police officer, accidentally falls off a cliff during a pursuit. When he wakes, he finds himself inside a strange coffin in a thousand-year-old tomb, wearing a Taoist robe that crumbles to ash in an instant. Beside him lies only a mysterious scroll, the Everlasting Life Scripture.

He discovers that he has not only transmigrated to the tumultuous Spring and Autumn Period, but also taken over a body blessed with extraordinary gifts and eternal youth: he can memorize anything at a glance, master cultivation and the Way at astonishing speed, heal wounds rapidly, and remain untouched by the passage of time.

“Who am I? Why am I here?”

From the Spring and Autumn Period, when the Hundred Schools of Thought contended, to the Ming Dynasty, with its armies and clashing blades, he drifts like a speck of dust through the vast river of history. He discusses the Way with Confucius, plays chess with the First Emperor, witnesses the flames of the Battle of Red Cliffs, and listens to the poetry of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. He draws on the strengths of a hundred schools and masters abilities that reach to the heavens and penetrate the earth, bringing his medical skills, martial arts, and strategic genius to perfection.

Yet immortality is no blessing. It is the longest of punishments. Again and again, he makes close friends and finds the loves of his life, only to watch helplessly as time swallows them up. Left alone with memories spanning millennia, he wanders through the currents of history, burdened by loneliness.

Who is he, really? What secret does that body conceal? Where did the Everlasting Life Scripture come from? To find the answers, he travels the world, both a witness to history and a legend that will never fade.
