Yaya Grows Potatoes and Happens to Cultivate the Divine Realm

When five-year-old Zhang Yaya (Ruoya) was pushed into a dry well by her cousin, all she could think about was the half-piece of wheat flatbread her mother had hidden, which she still hadn’t eaten. But when she opened her eyes again, she had come back from the dead, and the red mark between her brows could make the weeds beside the well grow like crazy. She had no idea that the little goddess Xibao, a chaotic spiritual root who had fled after the Divine Realm collapsed, now lived inside her. The year fragments of the Divine Realm came crashing down, a three-year drought struck the Weichuan Basin. The eldest and second branches of the family locked the relief grain in their storehouses and even planned to sell her to a cult that worshiped the gods in exchange for millet. Yaya had no time to wonder who she was. She grabbed a small hoe and began clearing land to grow potatoes. “First, I need to make sure Mother and my brothers have enough to eat!” But the potatoes grew more and more miraculous: they not only filled people’s stomachs, they also purified polluted well water and even drove off the refugees who came to steal their food. But trouble came along with them. The cult called her a “bringer of calamity” and wanted to capture her for a sacrifice. The old enemies of the Divine Realm tracked her energy to steal her spiritual root, and even the Divine Realm, far beyond the horizon, was waiting for her to return and clean up its mess. Yaya crouched on the field ridge, pulling weeds, and sighed at the sudden appearance of a remnant of the War God’s soul. “I can rebuild the Divine Realm, but you’ll have to wait until I’ve harvested this crop of potatoes. Otherwise, my brothers will go hungry again!” From growing potatoes to survive to taking on villains with her hoe, who would have thought that the key to saving both realms was hidden in the vegetable patch of a little farm girl?
