The Empress Only Wants to Escape Her Wedding

Su Weixi, a 21st-century office worker with a deep fear of marriage, misses a step on her way home after working overtime and somehow transmigrates into the founding empress of the Great Jing dynasty. Before she can process the shock of going from office drudge to emperor, something even more startling comes to light: her predecessor was already married and had six imperial husbands, each with a distinct personality, forming a veritable palace of three halls and six courtyards.

Xie Yu, her wise and calculating principal husband, is the anchor of stability at court, yet in private he always finds gentle, irresistible ways to get close to her. Xiao Ce, her battle-hardened, blunt-spoken secondary husband, hides a clumsy protectiveness beneath the fearsome exterior of a frontier war god. Shen Lanyi, son of the capital's richest man, is lively and unpredictable, always coming up with new ways to cheer her up. Lin Wenyan, a literary luminary, is as gentle as jade, and his poems brim with unspoken affection. Wen Jingran, a cool and reserved imperial physician, is quiet but thoughtful, always offering the most considerate care when she needs it. And then there's Xie Shuyun, her principal husband's younger brother: soft and clingy, calling her “Big Sister” at every turn and giving her all the trust and affection in his heart.

Su Qingyuan, who fears marriage, takes one look at the situation and is so terrified she wants to run. She hides in the imperial study, crawls under desks, and climbs out back windows, doing everything she can to evade her “husbands.” But the six imperial husbands refuse to play by the usual rules. They don't fight over status, only persistently staying by her side in their own ways. Su Weixi goes from resisting her role as their empress to gradually realizing that their sincerity is no burden. Little by little, she understands that these three halls and six courtyards are no prison. The men who vie to treat her well have already become the family she most wants to hold on to in this unfamiliar world.
