The Men on the Dragon Throne

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to suddenly become an emperor?

This is no wish-fulfillment transmigration story. It is about truly taking your seat on the hardest throne in the realm: before you lies a court where every step is fraught with danger, distant enemies eye you hungrily, and countless commoners below are waiting for food.

This novel tells the stories of people forced to sit on the throne. We begin with Qin Shi Huang Ying Zheng: how did a child held hostage in Zhao, bullied and called a “Qin dog,” become the emperor who swept across the Six States? Did he ever grow weary of reviewing a hundred jin of bamboo slips every day? He sought immortality and feared death, grew suspicious in his later years, and ultimately had his corpse carried alongside salted fish during a tour... How imperial power shapes people, and how it destroys them, is at the heart of this story.

Next, we will witness the fates of Liu Bang, Li Shimin, Zhu Yuanzhang, Chongzhen, and many other emperors. Some were born into poverty, some seized power through coups, and some worked themselves to death on the throne. Like ordinary people, they felt fear, made mistakes, and had regrets.

Now, let us return to a street corner in Handan in 259 BC, where a boy wipes the mud from his face. He is about to embark on a path no one could have imagined, becoming the first emperor in Chinese history.

This throne, this realm, this world of ours. Let us see it all together.
