The Rise of the Anti-Japanese Militia

[Militia legends + forged in fire + brutal realism + epic tragedy + tunnel warfare + mine warfare + guerrilla warfare]

When I was seventeen, the Japanese slaughtered everyone in my village, Majiatun. My parents died horribly right before my eyes. Ma Xiaoqiang, the cowardly boy who threw up at the sight of blood, was gone. The one who survived was a man with hatred in his heart and a rusty knife in his hand, hungry for revenge.

I joined the militia, crawling through tunnels, tearing up railway tracks, and blowing up blockhouses! From a rookie on the battlefield, I was tempered through one life-and-death struggle after another into “Ma the Daring,” a name that made the Japanese tremble. All those battles taught me that fighting the Japanese wasn’t just about avenging my family. It was about keeping thousands upon thousands of villages like Majiatun alive!

But the road to victory was paved with the blood of my brothers. My closest childhood friend betrayed us, the captain I respected most fell, and brothers dear to my heart died alongside the Japanese... This beloved land has buried too many heroes.

This time, the bullets are loaded and the cleavers are sharpened! I, Ma Xiaoqiang, a farmer born in a ravine in the Yimeng Mountains, will lead my fellow villagers to use land mines, old rifles, and our unyielding resolve to tell the invaders: No one will take our home! Our roots will never be severed, not even in death!
