Reborn as an Ugly Phoenix: The Twelve Beast Attendants' Redemption

Feng Ling, an independent modern woman, dies unjustly and is reborn as the disfigured, despised cast-off concubine of the Kingdom of Nanli on the Tianxuan Continent. Returned to the starting point of her descent into the abyss of fate, she carries modern wisdom and an awakened spiritual power, vowing to take revenge and clear her name. Yet her path to a comeback veers off course because of twelve mysterious "Beast Attendants," each bearing the power of one of the Chinese zodiac signs...

The resourceful Rat, the benevolent and steadfast Ox, the proud yet lost Tiger, the gentle and healing Rabbit... Each Beast Attendant is trapped by their own karmic burdens and obsessions. As Feng Ling searches for them and awakens their powers, she gradually discovers the profound meaning of the three great schools of thought: using benevolence to dissolve hatred, mastering supernatural powers through the balancing force of nature, and observing cause and effect with compassion.

She meant to take up her sword and slay her enemies, but is forced to take charge of Heaven's mandate; she wanted only to look after herself, yet draws all living beings toward the light. From an "ill-omened woman" whose face was ruined and whose bones were discarded, she becomes the key to restoring order to the human world by uniting the power of all twelve Beast Attendants. Between love and hatred, the Great Dao, destruction, and redemption, Feng Ling must find a path on which all things can coexist...
