Welcome to the Chongzhen Earth Village!

I woke up to find that my modern soul, Li Wei, had become the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty: Chongzhen, Zhu Youjian! What kind of hellish start was this? I’d barely warmed the dragon throne when reports of crisis on the borders, rebels rising everywhere, an empty treasury, and officials tearing one another apart rang in my ears like the death knell of a dying dynasty. The crooked old tree on Coal Hill, where history says I’ll hang myself, seems just around the corner. But I’m here now, and history will be rewritten! I’ll execute the traitors and seize their estates. How dare rats hollow out my private treasury? I’ll train a new army and forge firearms, so the barbarians can taste the terror of being crushed by technology! I’ll promote science and boost industry and commerce. I want the flames of the Industrial Revolution to ignite in the Ming first! I’ll crush the rebels and wipe out the Jianzhou Jurchens. How dare the Tartars trample the empire’s lands?
