To secure the throne, Shen Huaian sets out to flirt with Xiao Yan, the fearsome general. But his seduction blows up in his face, and the madman latches on to him, nearly turning him into a collectible figurine.

Shen Huaian decides to kill his husband and restore the righteous order. Xiao Yan responds by faking his death, then spends every day pretending to be a ghost and crawling into bed with him, determined to scare him out of his mind.

Shen Huaian gives in and asks the madman what he wants as compensation. The madman's eyes light up. "I want to be empress!"

Shen Huaian: "...Don't you want to be regent?"

Xiao Yan: "That can wait. It's not important."

Later, Shen Huaian tells him to bring the crown prince back to the palace. Xiao Yan cries out in anguish, "I've been risking my life out there, and you've had a child with someone else?! Now you're going to make him crown prince!"

Shen Huaian: "Wake up. He's my biological younger brother!"
