After Trading With Mortals for Nine Years, I Saved Enough to Be Reborn

The story was inspired by a song by a band, by the memories we shared many years ago, and also by the 2022 TV series of the same name, adapted from Hikaru Utada’s “First Love.” And so I thought: I’d turn that song into a story.

There’s a small town called Wan’an, where a little shop can help people make their wishes come true. Each of the shop’s owners has made a deal with a god: they must make deals with a hundred ordinary people and help them fulfill their wishes. The rewards they earn, including time and money, can serve as the capital to be reborn.

Qu Zhou has lost all his memories of his previous life. All he knows is that his desperate will to live moved a god, making him the new owner of the little shop. After completing a hundred deals, he returned to society. How did he die, and who was he so determined to stay alive for? Only he can search for the answers.

This story spanning seventeen years begins with the final deal.
