Everyday Retirement in a World of Magic

After completing a century of missions for the Quick Transmigration Bureau, Liya finally saved enough points to retire. She chose a quiet forest town, ready to live a peaceful life away from the world: planting flowers, brewing tea, basking in the sun, and occasionally going into town to buy bread and honey. But her plans were soon derailed. First, she discovered a leftover from one of her missions: a silver-haired elf who had been left wandering and couldn’t even use the simplest magic. Then one day, a little wolf who was always stealing her apples suddenly turned into a human child right in front of her and tearfully pleaded, “Don’t send me away.” There was even a talking acorn that refused to sprout in her flowerpot, insisting, “The sunlight is warmer here.” Liya pressed a hand to her forehead. “I only wanted to retire. How did this turn into a shelter?”

Gradually, though, the old house deep in the forest grew lively. The elf boy learned to bake bread, the wolf cub helped her tend the garden, and the acorn became her personal weather forecaster. It turned out retirement didn’t have to be lonely. As she healed those around her, she was gently healed in return.
