The Hongwu Dynasty Rises Again: Zhu Xiongying’s Return After a Thousand Years

Zhu Xiongying, who died at the age of eight, has his soul sent six hundred years into the future. Armed with modern science, he reunites with his grandfather Zhu Yuanzhang. The two return to the Hongwu era and reshape the Great Ming with the tools of the Industrial Revolution.

From reforming the imperial court and crushing the northern invaders to hunting whales in the East China Sea and sweeping across the Southern Seas; from the roar of steam engines and the web of telegraph lines to global fiefdoms and the sun-and-moon banner flying across all five continents, the millennia-old empire surges forward through chapter after chapter of parallel-titled headlines, until it truly becomes an empire on which the sun never sets.

Here you’ll find the affection of a grandfather and grandson reunited after centuries, the partnership and love between Zhu Xiongying and Xu Miaojin, and the collision of firearms and poetry, as well as the harmony of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity. With 1,000 chapters and one million words, this is both a passionate, sweeping tale of global conquest and an Eastern fantasy of “a land at peace beneath the radiant sun and moon.”
