After My Wife Defended the Suspect Who Assaulted Our Daughter, I Vanished from the Legal World

My daughter was brutally assaulted, but on the day of the trial, my wife, a star lawyer, chose to side with the accused. All because he was the son of the man she still cherished. She refuted our evidence point by point and even demanded that our daughter reenact the assault to prove what happened. Our daughter broke down in court, while my wife won her case. After the trial, I asked her again and again, "Fang Yan, why?" But she replied self-righteously: "I know you've always been bothered by my past with Yan Shen." "But joining forces with our daughter to falsely accuse Yan Shen's son of being a criminal is going too far!" Unable to bear her mother's betrayal, our daughter ended her life in her bedroom. I called Fang Yan like a madman. When she answered, all I heard was the lilting sound of dance music. "I'm at the party Yan Shen's throwing for his son. I'm hanging up. Don't call again." I stared at my daughter's body for a long time, then pulled a number out of my contacts' blacklist. "I want to reopen the case. I know you can help."
