Sandbox: Board Shorts, and the Empress Calls It the Banner of Trillions of Souls

On his birthday, Li Fei receives a mysterious sandbox. Inside it is an entire fantasy world. A struggle between imperial and divine authority is unfolding there. Empress Ying Xuanji intends to destroy Buddhism, and the Eighteen Arhats march on the capital. Just as the dynasty is about to fall, Li Fei’s silver shaded cat knocks the swim trunks he left drying on the balcony into the fantasy world. To his utter surprise, the swim trunks become the Demonic Sect’s supreme treasure, the Banner of Ten Billion Vengeful Souls. His silver shaded cat becomes the Divine Beast White Tiger. His husky becomes the Howling Celestial Dog. The stun gun inside his lighter can conjure heavenly lightning. A tub of protein powder can create an army of a hundred thousand tiger-and-wolf warriors, all brimming with vitality. The eel bones left over from his meal become the remains of a divine dragon. Crouched in front of the sandbox, Li Fei wonders what he should toss in next. He has no idea that the Buddhist, Daoist, and Confucian worlds all speak of a heavenly demon beyond the heavens, one who can blot out the sky with a hand and cover the earth with a finger.
