The Spirit Herbs I Grow Can Defy Heaven and Change Fate

Shen Mo is an orphan with a troubled past. The Lin family of Qingyang City takes him in as an adopted son, but in truth he is only a low-ranking herb boy. He is also betrothed to the Lin family's legitimate daughter. After the Lin family secures a connection to a cultivation sect, they coldly cast Shen Mo out, leaving him to endure one humiliation after another. At the end of his rope, he draws on an extraordinary talent for spiritual plants and medical knowledge gleaned from his parents' belongings, and carves out a medicinal herb garden on a barren mountainside. The herbs he grows are of peerless quality, far beyond anything found in the mortal world. They can not only heal the sick and save lives, but also aid cultivation and defy fate. From then on, Shen Mo makes his way as a humble herb farmer, carefully navigating the major factions with an unconventional approach. He treats the powerful and befriends the influential; he concocts poison pills to trap and kill his enemies; he ventures into perilous places to seek ancient spiritual plants and tame guardian divine beasts. Along the way, his fate becomes entwined with that of Yun Xiyue, a tragic concubine daughter treated by her family as a “substitute.” Their relationship grows from pity into a determination to protect her, and together they uncover the shocking secret behind their origins. Then they crush every enemy and, starting from humble roots, ascend to the pinnacle of the cultivation world.
