The Phoenix Lord of the Ninth Heaven: The Carefree Prince's Beloveds

In the Yong'an Dynasty, women reign supreme. Empress Feng Luan dotes on her younger sister Feng Yao, granting her the title of Prince Xiaoyao and allowing her to command troops, remain standing before the throne, and enjoy every worldly honor.

Feng Yao has never been one to accept restraint. She led troops to pacify the southern frontier and reinforce the north, dazzling the realm with her brilliance. Free-spirited and carefree, she has no idea she has become the ideal partner in the hearts of countless young noblemen. Shen Yan, son of the former dynasty's Grand Tutor, has kept a painting of their first meeting, when he climbed over her wall, for three years. Xiao Ce, the young son of the Marquis of Zhenbei, swore to be her shield for life after she risked her life to protect him. Liu Qinghan, son of the Minister of Personnel, expressed all his affection through a song, “The Phoenix Seeks Its Mate.” Even the reclusive physician and a prince from the Western Regions are willing to set aside their pride, asking only to enter her household.

Currents of intrigue swirl through the court. Some covet her military power, while others plot against her identity. Only the young noblemen who truly care for her remain by her side through every storm. The empress clears away the obstacles for her, yet still asks, “Yaoyao, with all these people in court vying for your heart, whom will you choose to spend your life with?”

Looking at the figures before her, some gentle, some stern, and some refined, Feng Yao merely smiles. “The person I love is never chosen by their status. Only their sincerity matters.” Thus begins a story of power, protection, and deep affection in the capital of Chang'an, the city of phoenixes.
