Reborn, I Set Out to Conquer My Childhood Friend's Archrival

In my previous life, I treated Lu Chenyang as my whole world. I gave up the chance to study abroad and worked three late-night jobs to support him through graduate school, only to hear him say, "You're not good enough for me." At the time, he had the campus belle in his arms and laughed that I was nothing but a cheap shadow.

Reborn in my second year of high school, I saw him waving to me from the basketball court. Sweat dripped onto his jersey as he called, "Yueyue, could you bring me a bottle of water?"

I didn't move. Instead, I turned and walked over to Gu Yifeng, who was watching the game from the sidelines. He was Lu Chenyang's sworn rival, the school's infamous cold-faced devil. In my previous life, when Lu Chenyang humiliated me in front of everyone, Gu Yifeng was the only one who frowned and slipped an unopened tissue into my hand.

"Gu Yifeng," I tugged at the sleeve of his school uniform. "Can you do me a favor? Be my boyfriend and make Lu Chenyang miserable."

His profile was stern and cold. He glanced at me but said nothing.

But later, when Lu Chenyang cornered me in the hallway and demanded an explanation, Gu Yifeng leaned against the wall and said, "Can't you see she doesn't want to talk to you?"

When a problem brought me to tears during evening study, he pushed over a sheet of scratch paper filled with explanations. His pen paused. "The steps are here."

Then, one day, Lu Chenyang cornered him on the rooftop and they got into a fight. With a cut on his lip, Gu Yifeng grabbed my wrist and asked, "Su Yue, are you only with me to get back at him?"

I looked into his reddened eyes and suddenly panicked.

When had I started falling for him, turning this revenge act into something real?

(Extra scene: Later, Lu Chenyang couldn't accept it and asked Gu Yifeng, "She liked me first, didn't she?" Gu Yifeng was explaining a problem to me and didn't even look up. "That was then. Now, I'm the only one she sees.")
