Let Love Fade, Let Karma Fall into Place

My wife resented being forced into an arranged marriage. On her way to run off with the man she loved, she got into a car accident and lost the use of both legs. I caught up with her and saved her, then stayed by her side, caring for her devotedly for the rest of her life. Together, we raised three children. I thought we would live out our days in quiet contentment, but I never expected my wife to resent me her entire life. Even in her old age, she wanted to bring the man she loved home to live with us. “If you hadn’t stuck your nose in back then, Xiao Yan would have come to save me. You ruined my love, and I never want to see you again!” Our three children all urged me to move into a retirement home and give up the house to them. “Dad, you had Mom’s love for your whole life. You should be grateful.” “You still have us. Uncle Qi has no children, and people will bully him in a retirement home.” “Mom doesn’t have much time left. Just let her have this.” I had no choice. They dumped me in a retirement home, where I was left all alone. Meanwhile, they squandered my pension and lived together in perfect harmony. Consumed by rage, I suffered a brain hemorrhage that left me paralyzed in bed. When a flood struck, I couldn’t escape and drowned. When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day my wife set off in pursuit of love. If never being with her first love was her lifelong regret, then I would give her the chance.
