Cultivation Begins in the Mortal World

The mortal world is a polluted wasteland, its spiritual energy depleted. The spirit world treats it like a medicinal garden, plundering it at will. Born in Qinglin Town, the young Lin Chen expected to live an ordinary life, but disaster struck when immortals descended. His father died protecting him, leaving behind a blood feud and a mysterious piece of ancient jade.

At the brink of despair, the jade awakened and passed down the forbidden cultivation art Record of Defying the Mortal. It drew polluted energy into Lin Chen's body and transformed it into reverse essence, forging a path of his own: one that devoured all living things and defied the heavens. Seeking revenge, searching for his mother, and, above all, striving to shatter the age-old shackles between immortals and mortals, Lin Chen became a “Wayfarer Against the Mortal” and entered Abyssal Sky City, a place teeming with all manner of people.

There, the Lingxi Sect viewed him as an abomination, the city lord's estate used him even as he used them, and the Martial Alliance kept him at arm's length. He made a name for himself in the Blood Slaughter Arena, uncovered secrets in Ghost Cry Alley, and navigated the rival powers around him. Yet he gradually discovered that his personal grudge was only the tip of the iceberg. A colossal storm sweeping across both the spirit and mortal realms was brewing...

Immortals and mortals are divided by nature, so I shall defy the heavens! This is a blood-soaked path of slaying immortals with a mortal body and attaining the Dao through reverse essence.
