Mao Zi was a woman driven to desperation in the real world. After binding herself to a System, she transmigrates to a mysterious city-state overrun by undead. She is burdened with the seemingly impossible mission of dispelling the undead and saving the city-state. Not only must she contend with the undead's overwhelming strength and a desperate lack of time, but her hidden identity as a wielder of the power of light means that discovery would provoke an even more intense pursuit. At first, she cannot wield her power of light skillfully, hampering her efforts against the undead, and the city's survivors mistake her for a harbinger of disaster. In an unforgiving environment where resources are running out and undead fill the streets, Mao Zi races against time. She ultimately succeeds in driving the undead away, but exhaustion leaves her in a deep slumber. Her bitter victory gives the city-state a chance to live.
