In the New World, there are evil spirits alongside humans. They look just like ordinary people, but they love killing and eating humans. They have even formed an organization called the Night Organization. In response, the Special Operations Bureau was established to hunt down mutants.
A century ago, before the Bureau existed, Jing Chu and Xiao Ling jointly ruled Eternal Day, while the Dark Vein worked together to kill evil spirits.
Later, the two became sworn enemies. Xiao Ling killed Jing Chu, and every time she came back, Xiao Ling killed her again. He swore that he and Jing Chu would fight to the death. Their lives kept repeating the same cycle: awakening, then being killed.
In the New World a hundred years later, Jing Chu awakened once again. As expected, Xiao Ling had also come to the New World.
With the Special Operations Bureau now in place, Jing Chu no longer had to hunt down evil spirits, and she was content to let them handle it. She only wanted to uncover the truth about what happened a century ago. But neither the Night Organization nor Xiao Ling would leave her alone. They were determined to hunt her down.
Short-tempered Jing Chu finally snapped. The Night Organization, is it? Xiao Ling, is it? They really think she is a pushover?
The two were locked in a cycle of mutual destruction, and, as expected, Jing Chu once again died at Xiao Ling's hands.
Xiao Ling told her she should never have been alive, not a hundred years ago and not now. Wrongdoing had to be paid for.
Jing Chu never understood what she had done wrong. Had she killed the woman he loved, or harmed his master? But none of that mattered anymore. After being hunted by Xiao Ling for a hundred years, she was exhausted.
This time, she wouldn't wait for him to kill her. She would do it herself.
In the early winter of that year, Jing Chu, who had lived for a hundred years, died in the bitter cold.
After Jing Chu's death, Xiao Ling disbanded Eternal Day and chose to take his own life in front of her gravestone that same year.
