Ancient times + reborn + heroes of the Water Margin (no golden finger)
The old county magistrate of the Shi family opens his eyes and finds that he has become the magistrate of Yuncheng County in the Northern Song dynasty. His memories of modern life remain crystal clear, but the world before him is exactly like the Water Margin: Song Jiang is still wandering the jianghu, while collusion between officials and bandits has left Yuncheng in a state of chaos. The original magistrate had offended the powerful with his upright ways and become embroiled in a bitter struggle. Now his life hangs in the balance.
At the critical moment, he draws on modern ideas of the rule of law to unlock his golden finger. He doesn't confine his investigations to ancient methods: he examines evidence, weighs the logic, and clears a string of long-standing wrongful cases. The people hail him as “a magistrate as impartial as the blue sky.” When petty officials try to collude with local strongmen and cover their tracks, he catches them out. When corrupt superiors demand bribes, he wields the laws of the Great Song as a weapon, leaving them speechless. Instead, his record of solving cases earns him a firm foothold.
An imperial envoy arrives at the behest of the powerful to bring him down, but he lays out evidence of corruption in front of everyone. Not only does he prove his innocence, he follows the trail to bring down Ximen Qing's den of iniquity. And he doesn't stop there: he curbs the local strongmen and takes their resources into public hands, secretly trains troops and stockpiles grain, and quietly befriends heroes such as Wu Song and Lu Zhishen.
While Liangshan recruits outlaws, he gathers loyal and courageous heroes. As the imperial court grows ever more corrupt, he has already secured his foundation in Yuncheng. When the Jin armies march south, millions of people will stand with him. Starting from Yuncheng, he will disrupt the old course of the Water Margin and vie to rule the land, determined to protect the people of the Great Song.
