Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the Holy Lord Who Blesses and Guards the Home

[Folk ghost stories + Chinese strange tales + supernatural legends + leveling + magical artifacts + spirit summoning] “You’ve all heard stories about him. Some say he achieved enlightenment and became a judge of the underworld. Others say he hated evil and vanquished demons. Still others say the man who went to the underworld wasn’t him at all, and that he was just a bearded character made up by a storyteller. But the story I’m going to tell today is one you’ve never heard.” The story begins in “a year of chaos and calamity, when the plains were strewn with bones.” In a desolate village shrouded in night fog, the sound of wedding suonas drifts through the air. Zhong Kui kicks open the door of a ruined temple. A bride’s red wedding dress flutters from a withered locust tree, whose bark has split open to reveal a mouth dripping black blood.
