Historical Fiction: No Nonsense Allowed

It doesn’t have to be completely historically accurate, but at least don’t make it ridiculous. I want power struggles and political maneuvering that make sense. People shouldn’t just get confused all the time and believe the protagonist at first sight. The language doesn’t need to be perfectly period-appropriate, but please don’t throw in internet slang and memes at every turn.
