The Otherworldly Door in the Hospital Room

Someone in the hospital room laughs and says, “You’re crazy,” while the evil spirit outside the door politely waits to sign a contract. I’m just a man labeled as a patient, but after a botched transfer, I outlived every adventurer. I made it back alive to a world torn apart by memory, trade, and order. Evil spirits became my wife, daughter, and parents, and love tangled with nightmares to form a new family. The Archivists treat warmth as a commodity and memory as capital. At their academy, I was dissected, catalogued, and forced to learn how to pay a price for the chance to bring my loved ones back. This is a story about loss and mending: who gets to decide who owns a “memory”? Power can be written into law, but only people can record warmth. The protagonist goes from an asylum to another world, from a specimen under study to a guardian, carrying guilt and a desire for revenge, along with the courage to stitch a broken world back together, one stitch at a time. If you enjoy a long story that combines ethical questions with dark fantasy, this is a book that will have you hearing echoes outside your window in the middle of the night. The title steps into reality: the door to another world in the hospital room is already open. Do you dare look back?
