Novel Synopsis
In 2077, as the climate collapses, humanity uses quantum memory implantation to send “Reconstructors” into the past, hoping to alter key events and delay the apocalypse. Lin Shen, the foremost Reconstructor, has the rare ability of “dual-timeline memory.” But while carrying out a mission to prevent the Hiroshima atomic bombing, he accidentally triggers a rift in spacetime and discovers the brutal truth his organization has concealed: the apocalypse cannot be reversed. Every mission exists only to identify “time-immune” people who can preserve the seeds of civilization.
Meanwhile, the mysterious antagonist known as “Raven” has mastered reverse time technology, using time loops to create parallel-timeline prisons and trap Lin Shen during the 1918 influenza pandemic. With help from his ally Su Li, Lin Shen breaks free, only to discover that Raven is his own future self, split off from him. In the final confrontation in an apocalyptic bunker, Lin Shen must decide whether to activate the “Zero Plan” and erase human civilization from history.
The story uses the image of a “butterfly specimen” throughout to explore the ethics of memory, sacrifice, and the survival of civilization. Set against the framework of time paradoxes and quantum physics, it unfolds as a century-spanning journey of self-redemption and a trial of civilization.
