I, Li Qingzhao’s Husband, Refuse to Flee South

The brother I saved became the ruler who destroyed a kingdom; the woman I loved turned out to be a princess of an enemy state! After transmigrating to the Northern Song, I, Zhao Mingcheng, am more than just Li Qingzhao’s husband. I once saved a sworn brother in a snowstorm. His name was Wanyan Aguda. I once met a woman on the grasslands who would risk her life for me. She was Xiao Yanyun, a princess of the Liao dynasty. I thought these bonds were simply part of life in troubled times, never guessing that fate had buried a blade among them. When the clash of arms shattered Bianjing’s splendor, my brother of old took up arms against me. As the great empire teetered on the brink of collapse, the woman I had once loved fought to the death for her homeland. On one side was my peerless wife, my childhood sweetheart; on the other, the princess of an enemy state, for whom my feelings had quietly grown. On one side was the brotherhood I had shared with an old friend; on the other, the nation and people I was bound to protect. Empire, brother, beloved... When every bond of loyalty becomes a blade, how should I choose?
