I Transmigrated into a Crown Prince, and the Empress Is My Girlfriend?

A car accident sends modern man Lin Mo’s consciousness into the swaddling clothes of a newborn in an ancient imperial palace, where he becomes the crown prince. Meanwhile, Su Qing, his girlfriend at his hospital bedside, opens her eyes to find herself the empress nursing this “crown prince.” Beneath the baby’s cries is a familiar heartbeat, and in the empress’s gaze lies the secret of their transmigration. When the infant makes the modern hand signal they once agreed on, and the empress hums a tune only the two of them understand, their mismatched identities stir up a storm within the cage of imperial power. In court, they are a “mother and son” who follow every formality; in private, they use “traffic lights” and “WeChat names” to pass secret messages. They share memories of the modern world whenever they transmigrate, yet suppress their surging love beneath the rules of the ancient world. The emperor’s suspicions haunt them, rumors in the harem cut like knives, and the gaze of the original host’s soul makes it all the more absurd. They try to light up the ancient night sky with a lighter and use modern knowledge to stir up the court, but each failed attempt to transmigrate reveals the cruelty of fate: their identities are an impassable divide, time and space are a chasm, and love is a poison that eats through the heart. When the farewell letter from the Cold Palace ends with its final stroke, and the Eastern Palace candlelight reveals their resolve to die together, this love born of transmigration and crossed identities will finally reach an ending from which no one escapes, crushed beneath imperial power and the weight of time and space.
