Xiaomeng, an ordinary overworked office drone, unexpectedly gets a “temporary stall permit” to set up shop in the underworld. At a gloomy, silent crossroads on the Yellow Springs Road, she opens a little stall selling the comforts of everyday life: recommending Lao Gan Ma chili sauce as a soup base to Meng Po, peddling compressed biscuits to starving ghosts, buying exam-prep materials for ancient scholars, and even teaching Ox-Head and Horse-Face to play Honor of Kings. When the King of Hell arrives in a fury, slams the table, and shouts, “Illegal business! You're disrupting the cycle of reincarnation!” Xiaomeng calmly pulls out a pack of Soft Zhonghua cigarettes. “My lord, your Huazi are here.” The King of Hell expertly lights one and clears his throat. “Ahem... Next time, bring a power bank. The underworld's Wi-Fi is terrible.” But when officials from Heaven suddenly arrive to shut down her stall, Xiaomeng realizes that the instant noodle seasoning packets she's been selling have somehow made Meng Po's soup stop working... A cross-realm business venture that's about to shake the Three Realms has only just begun.
It's a small book, but it's pretty good. It doesn't forcefully prolong the chapters. I give it a thumbs up.
