The Moon Matchmaker Rabbit's Great Urban-Rural Romance Hunt

The most mind-bending guide to love and marriage is here! A cyber Cupid rabbit who uses Douyin and knows how to plant trees on Alipay is using cutting-edge technology to crack the challenges of Chinese matchmaking. When a rural “leftover man” meets an urban “leftover woman,” who says they can’t spark a romance?

▎Tech-Matched Destinies: Big data makes an even sweeter match

See how the Cupid rabbit uses “fingerprint-unlock times” to pair soulmates, bringing together two people who follow the same agricultural content creator to plant a love tree in Ant Forest. A female engineer’s experiments with space peppers meet a farmer’s cultivation secrets; a perfumer’s rose essential oil mingles with edible flower fields. The most technically minded professional pairings conceal the tenderest confessions.

▎Romance in the Countryside: Vegetable dumplings are more tempting than macarons

A city girl brings a massage gun to the village to learn how to spin thread, only to be dazzled by a bachelor’s castle made of sorghum stalks. A country lad learns belly dancing while playing the sanxian, yet wins her heart with a jar of homemade broad bean paste. Here, “rustic sweet talk” means teaching you to drink coffee from a gourd tea set, while “ultimate romance” means a marriage proposal with a ring carved from a pumpkin.

▎A Society-Wide Sugar Rush

These urban-rural couples don’t just find love themselves; they also inspire hit new businesses like “pastoral cafes” and “farming-themed escape rooms.” By the time the Cupid rabbit retires, all the red threads have been woven into a vast net, connecting technology and tradition, bridging city and countryside, and bringing a little more warmth and everyday charm to China’s map of love and marriage.
