I Signed In to the Underworld and Became the Interstellar Yanluo

In the parallel timeline of Interstellar Year 217, Earth converges with rifts to other realms. Paranormal incidents run rampant, and people with supernatural abilities quietly begin to rise. On the surface, the world remains a glittering technological metropolis. Behind the scenes, however, the supernatural factions are ruled by the Spirit Hub Guild. Major cities have supernatural academies that train the awakened.

The protagonist, Jiang Shiyi, is an orphan who gets by in the online black market using his hacking skills. By chance, he signs in at an abandoned subway station and awakens the ability to cross between the living world and the underworld. He also becomes bound to the Underworld Check-In System: by signing in at haunted locations every day, he can collect bizarre rewards from the land of the dead, such as Meng Po’s lipstick, the Judge’s fountain pen, and a ghost constable’s sunglasses.

Thick-skinned, sharp-tongued, and fearless, he’s as stubborn as a mule, but his intelligence leaves everyone else in the dust. He uses the System to make a fortune and guards every penny like his life depends on it, all while getting dragged into paranormal conspiracies. He prefers to work alone, but there’s justice in his heart. Beneath the neon lights of the future metropolis, magic academies and supernatural guilds intertwine, while the story moves between campus, the underground black market, and the ghost realm. Wearing sunglasses at the boundary between yin and yang, he says, “This job costs extra,” while secretly beating evil spirits until they’re fit to be scanned as QR codes.
