The universe once belonged to humanity. In the Golden Age, countless stars were lit, and starship trails wove the Milky Way into a silken tapestry. Then, in the span of a single standard day, a silent disaster called “the Stillness” swept across every human colony. There were no explosions, no wars, only life signs quietly going dark. A flourishing interstellar civilization became a collection of cold tombstones in an instant. The few survivors, scattered across the dark corners of the universe, flickered like candles in the wind.
A century later, among the ruins of the old civilization known as the “Star Graveyard,” relic hunter Ling Shao, who makes a living scavenging, discovers a black box that should not exist on the bridge of the legendary ghost starship, the Dawn.
The moment he activates the black box, it seems as though the entire dead universe turns its gaze toward him. It is not data, nor a final message, but an “echo” from an unknown dimension, a set of coordinates pointing to the truth behind the civilization’s destruction, and a trap that could drag every survivor into an even deeper abyss.
To find the answer to the Stillness, and to protect the last glimmer of light in his heart, Ling Shao pilots his battered little ship, the Firefly, onto an uncharted course. He will face twisted interstellar monsters, treacherous survivor factions, and, most terrifying of all, the ultimate horror lurking deep within spacetime, the one responsible for the Stillness.
He is a single ember in the sea of stars, yet he must kindle a fire that sets the heavens ablaze.
