At the crossroads of the multiverse lies a mysterious organization known as the “Narrative Management Bureau,” which maintains the fates of countless worlds. But an illegal program called the “Great Villain System” is disrupting the balance of these worlds. Li Wei, an ordinary college student, is accidentally bound to the System and becomes its Host. The System promises him boundless power and eternal life, in exchange for transmigrating between different worlds and hunting down the “protagonists” favored by fate. As the missions progress, Li Wei discovers that the protagonist of every world has some mysterious connection to him. An even more terrifying truth lies behind the System: it is no mere program, but an ancient being imprisoned and using Li Wei to collect “protagonist halos” so it can break free.
