Ma Jiaqi: No, I’m Not His Assistant

[Ma Jiaqi × Liu Wanning] After returning from studying abroad, Liu Wanning is sent by his father to work as an assistant at Times Fengjun under the pretext of “experiencing life.” Before starting the job, he has a brief encounter backstage with a young man he has never met before. The other boy is eating a boxed lunch, so Liu Wanning offers him a tissue. Little does he know that this fleeting glance will be the beginning of their destined connection. After joining the company, Liu Wanning is surprised to discover that the boy who accepted his tissue is none other than trainee Ma Jiaqi. As they work together day after day, Liu Wanning witnesses Ma Jiaqi’s devotion to the stage, while Ma Jiaqi is gradually drawn to Liu Wanning’s thoughtful, steady nature. Their feelings quietly take root in the little moments of everyday life. Before either of them can confess these secret feelings, the company catches on and transfers Liu Wanning to its Korean branch. Two years later, Ma Jiaqi and his bandmates successfully debut, and his career steadily takes off. Not long afterward, Ma Jiaqi travels to Korea with his bandmates for training, and the two reunite in a foreign country. Their pent-up feelings finally burst forth, and they officially become a couple. He firmly takes Liu Wanning’s hand and introduces him to both their families. From their first meeting backstage, when Liu Wanning offered him a tissue, to finding love together in a foreign land, they overcome distance and differences in status. At last, beneath the stars and amid the fireworks, they walk together toward a happy future of their own.
