Captive Love: The Madman's Downfall

[Obsessive love / yandere madness / salvation and destruction / two unhinged leads]

[Light in a dark cage vs. the obsessed pursuer of light]

Yin Hanzhou first sees Su Wan amid the ruins of an old house. She is holding a white cat, her gaze as cold as snow. She has the color he is missing.

“From today on, you belong to me.” He smiles gently and brushes her cheek with a finger, while flames still smolder behind him.

Su Wan falls into a nightmarish prison. He makes sweet soup at dawn, his fingertips grazing the corner of her lips as he conceals his obsession. When he finds broken glass, he turns ice-cold and crushes her wrist: “Were you planning to cut your way out?”

He locks her in a room on the top floor, decorates it with jewelry, and dismantles her communication devices. “Only by my side can you stay pure.”

Su Wan tries to escape twice. The first time, she breaks her ankle. The second time, the doctor Lu Ze who helps her ends up with a broken leg. His obsession comes from spending three years locked in a dark room as a child. He believes she is his light, and would rather extinguish it than let anyone else have her.

When Su Wan coughs up blood, he sees her eyes turn scarlet at the words “I hate you,” and warms her with his body heat. She understands then: she is not the only one trapped in this “love.”

She pretends to obey, memorizes her medication doses, and studies the room’s layout. She kisses his Adam’s apple and asks, “If I promise never to leave, will you let the child outside go?”

He tightens his arms around her in wild delight. “You’re willing to stay?”

She smiles at the shadow in his eyes. The key to the cage is in the madman’s hands. Destroy the madman, and he will be granted the illusion of salvation. And she is the grandest, deadliest illusion of all.
