Chen Mo only wanted to stay alive, even if it meant making a living among the dead.
A temporary night-shift job at Yong'an Funeral Home was the only option for a destitute young man like him, who was timid and afraid of ghosts. The bone-chilling morgue, the lingering smell of disinfectant and corpses, and the ever-present stench of death were his daily nightmares. He reassured himself that the strange sounds in the middle of the night, the drops of water where there shouldn't be any, fingernails scraping inside the freezer, a wet figure flashing past in the mirror, were all just illusions caused by his "weak constitution" and "nervous exhaustion."
Until that midnight, with a storm on the way.
The electronic lock on freezer 304 mysteriously failed. Its heavy metal door slowly sprang open, and a grimy, blue-gray hand suddenly grabbed the doorframe! Behind him, a soaked female figure with a dark purple strangulation mark around her neck was approaching, dragging her heavy, squelching footsteps! In the face of deathly terror, Chen Mo was pushed to unleash the ruthlessness buried in his bones. He bit his finger and used his blood to draw a crude talisman from the corner of an illustration in the ancestral book of spells, Essentials of the Chen Family's Home-Blessing Rituals.
A flash of blood-red light, and the freezer door slammed shut. The footsteps behind him stopped abruptly, too. Before he could even feel relieved to have survived, a mysterious woman with frost-white hair and blood-red eyes appeared in the morgue like a phantom. She saw through Chen Mo's "little trick" at a glance. Her icy warning sounded like a sentence:
"Using mortal blood to draw a talisman and invite evil into your body. Are you tired of living?"
"The blood talisman will turn on you. Within three days, you'll pay the price."
