The Prosperous Little Chef of the Eighties: With a Pocket Dimension and Beast Companions

Feng Jiujiu transmigrates and is promptly dumped by her awful fiancé, who claims she’ll bring him bad luck. Her original self dies of illness from the shock. When she wakes up, she’s immediately faced with nasty relatives trying to seize her family’s homestead, hostile stares from the villagers, and only twenty cents in her pocket. By chance, a drop of her blood activates the Phoenix Nest dimension, where she discovers a spirit spring and rich black soil. She uses the spring water to nurse herself back to health, secretly plants sweet potatoes and vegetables, and solves the problem of putting food on the table. She uses the vegetables from her dimension to make simple home-cooked dishes, like scallion pancakes and wild-herb dumplings. Their aroma draws over Gu Ye, the aloof man next door, and “Big Yellow,” the village stray dog. From chatting with Big Yellow, she learns that Gu Ye is a veteran who returned to the village after being injured while saving someone. The villagers have mistaken him for a loner who’s best left alone.
