- Qin Xixi: The heroine, 25, a fearless “haunted-house cleaner” and a materialist who firmly believes that “gross stuff is less scary than a boss who doesn’t pay your wages.” She’s naturally scatterbrained and always does ridiculous things in terrifying situations, like tying a bow around a hanging ghost’s noose.
- Lin Wenjing: The second heroine, 26, Qin Xixi’s childhood friend and partner. She has a supernatural constitution and can see ghosts, but is a complete coward. She works as a “haunted-house interior stylist,” using Instagram-worthy decor to hide the signs of hauntings. She always carries an air freshener shaped like a peachwood sword.
- Li Mumu: The hero, 27, a mysterious “haunted-house realtor.” He seems aloof, but is actually a “yin-yang mediator” from a family line. He can understand ghosts, but is socially awkward, so he communicates by sticking notes on tombstones or in corners.
- Ci Mou Nian: The second hero, 28, Li Mumu’s childhood friend and a “paranormal activity vlogger.” He’s convinced he’s the chosen one, but he’s actually a “power bank” for ghosts and monsters, who grow much stronger when he’s nearby. His equipment always runs out of battery at the worst possible moment.
